Who can apply

Kerala PSC recruitment notification for the post of SEAMAN (Special Recruitment for ST only) in Hydrographic Survey Wing (Port Department). Category No: 75/2020. Vacancies: Districtwise: Kollam - 01 (ST). Scale of Pay: 17500 - 39500/-. Method of Appointment: Direct Recruitment (Special Recruitment from among Scheduled Tribes only). Age limit

18-41. Only Candidates born between 02.01.1979 and 01.01.2002 (both dates included) are eligible. In the absence of qualified candidates within the age limit, the upper age limit shall be relaxed up to 50 years. Check your age for this post with your date of birth and category

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications: • Must have studied up to Standard VIII Technical Qualifications: • Proficiency in boat pulling, knots, splices and rigging, handling single cylinder motor boats, anchor work and swimming. The proficiency in the above work shall be assessed in a practical test conducted by the KPSC at the time of selection. Experience Required: Not specified, but preference given to candidates who have undergone seamen training successfully in the Kerala Institute of Nautical Studies, Vizhinjam or similar other training institutions. Physical Standards: Height: Not less than 160 cms (without shoes or boots); Weight: Not less than 48 kgs; Chest: Not less than 78 cms normal and not less than 83 cms on expansion; Visual standard: Distant vision 6/6 (Right and Left eye), Near vision 0.6 (Right and Left eye). Squint or any morbid condition of the eyes or eyelids (e.g. Trachoma) will be deemed as a disqualification. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10(a)(ii) of part II of KS&SSR is applicable. Candidates claiming equivalent qualification must produce the relevant Government Order at the time of verification.

Appointments are subject to the conditions laid down in G.O.(P) No. 21/76/PD dated 17.01.1976 and G.O.(P) No.25/94/GAD dated 22.01.1994. Candidates must submit confirmation for writing the examination through their profile if a test is conducted.
