Who can apply

Kerala PSC recruitment notification for the post of Seaman (Special Recruitment for ST only) in Hydrographic Survey Wing (Port Department). Category No: 275/2013. Vacancies: Ernakulam – 1(One). Scale of Pay: Rs. 8960 – 14260/-. Method of Appointment: Direct Recruitment (from among Scheduled Tribes only). Applications must be submitted online on or before 03-10-2013 through Kerala PSC One Time Registration.

Age limit

18 – 41, only candidates born between 02.01.1972 and 01.01.1995 (both dates included). In the absence of qualified candidates within the age limit, the upper age limit shall be relaxed upto 50 years. Check your age for this post with your date of birth and category

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications: • Must have studied upto Standard VIII Technical Qualifications: • Proficiency in boat pulling, knots, splices and rigging, handling single cylinder motor boats, anchor work and swimming. The proficiency in the above work shall be assessed in a practical test conducted by the KPSC at the time of selection. Experience Required: None specified, but preference given to candidates who have undergone seaman training successfully in the Kerala Institute of Nautical Studies, Vizhinjam or similar other training institutions. Physical Standards: Height: Not less than 160 cms (without shoes or boots); Weight: Not less than 48 kgs; Chest: Not less than 78cms normal and not less than 83 cms on expansion; Visual standard: Distant vision 6/6 (Right and Left), Near vision 0.6 (Right and Left). Squint or any morbid condition of the eyes or eyelids (eg. Trachoma) will be deemed as a disqualification. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Preference as coming with the meaning of GO(MS)No.50/70/PD dated 12.2.1970 as amended by GO(MS)No.246/70/PD dated 21.7.1970.
General conditions from the notification
Appointments are made on the basis of the rank secured in the ranked list of candidates prepared in pursuance of this notification subject to the conditions laid down in GO (P)No.21/76/PD dated 17.01.1976 and GO (P)No.25/94/GAD dated 22.01.1994. Paragraphs two, three and twenty five (except the conditions laid down in the Rule 3(c) of Part II of the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules) are not applicable to this selection.
