18-46. Only candidates born between 2.1.1976 and 1.1.2004 (both dates included) are eligible to apply. In the absence of qualified candidates within the age limit, the upper age limit shall be relaxed up to 50 years.

Educational Qualifications: • Pass in SSLC or its equivalent. • i) A Diploma in Automobile Engineering or Mechanical Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education (3 year course) or any institution recognized by the central Government or the state Government OR ii) Any qualification in either of the above disciplines declared as equivalent to the above diplomas by the Central Government or the State Government. Technical Qualifications: • Must hold a current valid driving licence authorizing him to drive Motor Cycle, Heavy Goods Vehicles and Heavy Passenger Motor Vehicles. Physical Standards: Height: 160 cms for male candidates and 150 cms for female candidates. Chest: 81 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms (applicable to male candidates only). Visual Standards: Must possess the specified visual standards without glasses (Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen for both eyes, Near Vision 0.5 Snellen for both eyes). Each eye must have a full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint or any morbid conditions of the eyes or lids of either eye shall be a disqualification. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10(a)(ii) of part II of KS&SSR is applicable. Degrees/Diplomas awarded by UGC approved Universities or Institutions established through an Act passed by the Parliament/State Legislative Assembly in accordance with G.O(M.S) No. 526/PD dated 17.07.1965 are acceptable.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
