Educational Qualifications: • SSLC or equivalent (applicable for item 3 under qualifications) Technical Qualifications: • A working knowledge in Malayalam, or Tamil or Kannada shall be an essential qualification. Experience Required: (1) Must be a pensioned Junior Commissioned Officer of the Army or equivalent in the Navy or Air Force. OR (2) In the absence of candidates with qualification (1), candidates with literacy in English and ten years Military Service in the Army, Navy or Air Force. OR (3) In the absence of qualified hands under (1) and (2), SSLC or equivalent with ten years service in the Police Force under the State Government or six months Military Training. Physical Standards: Height - 167 cms (160 cms for SC/ST candidates). Chest - 81 cms with minimum expansion of 5 cms (76 cms with minimum expansion of 5 cms for SC/ST candidates). Visual standards with glasses: Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen (Right & Left Eye), Near Vision 0.5 Snellen (Right & Left Eye). Full field of vision required. Free from colour blindness, squint, morbid conditions, and apparent physical defects like knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, irregular/protruding teeth, defective speech and hearing. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10 a (ii) of Part II of KS&SSR is applicable.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict.
