OBC Candidates: 18-29 (born between 02.01.1996 and 01.01.2007). SC Candidates: 18-31 (born between 02.01.1994 and 01.01.2007). Upper age limit relaxed up to 41 years for Ex-servicemen and up to 5 years for those with horse riding experience in Indian Armed Forces/Central Armed Police Forces/National Police Academy or worked in Mounted Police Units of other States.

Educational Qualifications: • Must have passed Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent. Technical Qualifications: • Must have minimum one year experience in horse riding from a firm / Sports Club having registration under State / Central Government or State Sports Council / Sports Authority of India. • Proficiency test on the respective subjects prior to appointment (Practical Test conducted by Kerala Public Service Commission). Experience Required: Minimum one year experience in horse riding acquired after obtaining the academic or other basic qualifications. Physical Standards: Height: Not less than 168 cm (161 cm for SC/ST candidates). Chest: Not less than 81 cm with minimum expansion of 5 cm (76 cm with 5 cm expansion for SC/ST candidates). Physical Efficiency Test: Qualify in any 5 events out of 8 items of national physical efficiency one star standard test. Eye sight: Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen, Near Vision 0.5 Snellen without glasses, with full field of vision and free from color blindness, squint, or morbid conditions. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10 (a) (ii) of Part II of the KS&SSR is applicable. Government orders regarding equivalent/higher qualifications shall be produced when called for.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
