Category - I (Open Market): 20-31 years. Only candidates born between 02.01.1994 and 01.01.2005 (both dates included) are eligible with usual relaxation to SC, ST and Other Backward Communities. Category - II (Constabulary): 20-36 years. Only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2005 (both dates included) are eligible.

Educational Qualifications: • Must be a Graduate. • Only in the absence of sufficient number of qualified SC/ST candidates, applications of SC/ST candidates who have passed Intermediate/Pre University Examinations of a recognized University shall be considered only to fill up the quota reserved for them under Category (i) (As per G.O(Ms)No. 239/Home dated 04.05.1961). Physical Standards: Must be Physically Fit. Height: 167 cm (160 cm for SC/ST candidates). Chest Measurement: 81 cm with minimum expansion of 5 cm (76 cm with 5 cm expansion for SC/ST candidates). Visual Standards without glasses: Distant Vision - 6/6 snellen (Right & Left Eye), Near Vision - 0.5 snellen (Right & Left Eye). Full field of vision in each eye. Free from colour blindness, squint, morbid conditions, knock-knee, flat feet, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, irregular and protruding teeth, defective speech and hearing. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: KS&SSR Part-II Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable. Government Orders declaring equivalent/higher qualifications shall be produced when called for.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
