Qualifications

Educational Qualifications: • Must have passed SSLC Examination. • Those who are to be appointed as Junior Reporters in languages other than English must have those languages as their mother tongue or acquired proficiency equivalent to SSLC Standard in those languages. Technical Qualifications: • Must have passed Technical Examination in Malayalam Shorthand (Lower Grade) conducted by the Government of Madras or the Government of Kerala or any other Examination declared to be its equivalent. • Should pass Malayalam Typewriting (Lower) Experience Required: Not specified Physical Standards: Must have the minimum physical standard prescribed for recruitment as Constable. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10(a)(ii) of Part II KS&SSR is applicable. In addition to the qualifications prescribed in the notification, the qualifications recognized by executive orders or standing orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for a post, in the Special Rules or found acceptable by the Commission in cases where acceptance of equivalent qualifications is provided for in the rules and such of those qualifications which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be sufficient for the post.
General conditions from the notification
Candidates must acquaint themselves with the instructions given in the notification as Part II, General Conditions. Probation: Two years within a continuous period of three years. Training: Must undergo general training in the Police Recruit School and training in shorthand in the language appointed to report during the period of probation. Tests: Must pass Standard I and II Speed Test in the language to be reported, English Typewriting (Lower Grade), and Efficiency Test as specified.
