Educational Qualifications: • Graduation Experience Required: For Category 6/2016: Two years of service in Police/Vigilance Department for Ministerial staff/Fingerprint staff. For Category 7/2016: Completion of probation for Police Constables/Head Constables. Physical Standards: Height: 160 cm (155 cm for SC/ST). Eye Sight: Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen, Near Vision 0.5 Snellen for both eyes. Must be free from physical defects like Knock-knee, Flat Feet, Varicose veins, Bow legs, Deformed limbs, irregular/protruding teeth, defective speech/hearing. Must qualify 5 out of 8 events in Physical Efficiency Test. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10 (a)(ii) of Part II of KS & SSR is applicable. For SC/ST candidates, Pre-University/Pre-Degree or equivalent may be considered if fully qualified candidates are not available.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
