18-36. Candidates born between 02.01.1987 and 01.01.2005 (both dates included) only are eligible to apply. Other Backward Communities and SC/ST candidates are eligible for usual age relaxation. Maximum age limit shall in no case exceed 50 years.

Educational Qualifications: • Should have passed Standard VII • Should not have acquired graduation Experience Required: Three years experience certificate as Kavadi/Mahout from a registered elephant owner having ownership certificate issued by the Forest and Wildlife Department. Physical Standards: Must possess good health and physique (to be proved by a Medical Certificate issued by a Medical Officer not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon). Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10 (a)(ii) of Part II of KS & SSR is applicable. Qualifications recognized by executive orders or standing orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for a post, and those which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall be sufficient.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
