No person shall be eligible for appointment by transfer if he/she has completed 40 years of age on 01.01.2017, with usual relaxation for SC/ST/OBC as per rule 10(c) of Part II of KS&SSR, 1958.

By-transfer recruitment is open only to serving employees named in the notification.
Educational Qualifications: • Pass in Plus Two Examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Government of Kerala or equivalent examination recognised by Government of India or Government of Kerala. • Basic academic qualification shall be SSLC or equivalent examination in the case of applicants who were in service before 30.08.2010. Experience Required: Must be an approved probationer in the respective feeder categories (LDC/LD Typist/Forest Driver for 583/2017; Depot Watcher/Reserve Watcher/Tribal Watcher for 584/2017; Last Grade Government Servant in Forest Dept for 585/2017). Physical Standards: Male: Height 168cm (160cm for SC/ST), Chest 81cm with 5cm expansion. Female: Height 157cm (150cm for SC/ST). Must pass Physical Efficiency Test and Endurance Test. Must possess specified medical standards (perfect hearing, specific vision standards without glass, no physical defects). Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10(a)(ii) of Part II KS & SSR is applicable.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
