Upper age limit is not applicable for open market candidates who are Draftsman Gr.I / Overseer Gr.I / Draftsman Gr.II / Overseer Gr.II or Clerk in the subordinate service of the Harbour Engineering Department.

Educational Qualifications: • Degree in B.Sc/B.Tech Engineering (Civil) of the Kerala University or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. • OR • Associate Membership Diploma of the Institution of Engineers, (India) in Civil Engineering or any other Diploma recognized as equivalent thereto. • OR • Pass in Sections A and B of the Associate Membership Examination of the Institution of Engineers, (India) in Civil Engineering. Experience Required: 6 (Six) years regular service in the subordinate service of the Harbour Engineering Department. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: KS & SSR Part II Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
