22-48. Only candidates born between 02.01.1977 and 01.01.2003 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for the Post (including the age relaxation in para 2(i) of the General Conditions). Members belonging to Scheduled Caste who had converted to Christianity after attaining adulthood and their children are eligible for age relaxation up to 50 years (born between 02/01/1975 and 01/01/2003).

Educational Qualifications: • MS / DNB in Orthopaedics. Technical Qualifications: • Permanent Registration under Kerala State Medical Council (TCMC) / Council for Modern Medicine. Experience Required: One Year Experience as Senior Resident in Orthopaedics in a recognized Medical College after acquiring Post Graduate Degree. (Or alternative teaching/clinical experience as specified in the notification such as Tutor, Demonstrator with MSc & PhD, Armed Forces Specialist Medical Officers, non-teaching Consultant/Specialist/Medical Officer with 2 years experience in Govt Hospital with 220+ beds, or Diploma holders with specific prior experience). Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: Rule 10(a) ii of Part II of KS & SSR is applicable.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
