Educational Qualifications: • Master's Degree in Communicative English with not less than 50% marks from a UGC recognised University or National Institute established by the Government of India or Institution established by the Government of Kerala. • OR Master's Degree in English with not less than 50% marks from a UGC recognised University or National Institute established by the Government of India or Institution established by the Government of Kerala and Post Graduate Diploma (not below B grade) in Teaching of English from Central Institute of English and Foreign Language or Post Graduate Diploma in English for Communication or Communicative English from a UGC recognised University or National Institute established by the Government of India or Institution established by the Government of Kerala. Technical Qualifications: • B.Ed degree in English acquired after a regular course of study from a UGC recognised University or National Institute established by the Government of India or Institution established by the Government of Kerala. • In the absence of persons with B.Ed degree in English, B.Ed degree acquired after a regular course of study in any one of the subjects under the concerned Faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the UGC recognised Universities or National Institute established by the Government of India or Institution established by the Government of Kerala. • In the absence of persons with B.Ed degree as specified above, persons with B.Ed degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from a UGC recognised University or National Institute established by the Government of India or Institution established by the Government of Kerala. • Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) in English for the post of Higher Secondary School Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the State Government. Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
