20-45. Candidates should have been born between 02.01.1978 and 01.01.2003 (both dates included). Upper age relaxation of up to 50 years is applicable for qualified candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes in the absence of candidates with the prescribed age limit, but in no case shall it exceed 50 years.

Educational Qualifications: • Master's Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto. • B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject acquired through regular course from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala. • In the absence of B.Ed. Degree holders in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the faculty specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. • In the absence of the above B.Ed. degree holders, B.Ed. degree acquired through regular course in any subject from any of the Universities in Kerala or recognized as equivalent thereto by any University in Kerala, OR MSc.Ed. in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education (NCERT). Technical Qualifications: • Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Higher Secondary School Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by any Agency authorized by the Government of Kerala. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: KS&SSR part II Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable. Government Orders regarding equivalent/higher qualifications shall be produced when required by the Commission.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
