Educational Qualifications: • Pass in SSLC or its equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of Kerala / Central Government Technical Qualifications: • A valid Motor Driving License for driving Motor Boats • 3 years experience as Boat Driver • Basic knowledge of Motor Boat Engine mechanics and ability to repair minor defects • Proficiency in swimming Experience Required: Not less than 3 years experience as Boat Driver after acquiring basic qualification. Physical Standards: Height: Minimum 168 cm (For SC/ST candidates: Minimum 160 cm). Chest: Minimum 81 cm with minimum expansion of 5 cm (For SC/ST candidates: Minimum 5 cm expansion). Vision standards: Distant vision 6/6 snellen (right and left) and near vision 0.5 snellen (right and left) without glasses. Colour vision, night blindness, and absence of squint/morbid conditions are checked. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: KS&SSR Part II Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
