Educational Qualifications: • A Degree in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering from any University established by statute or any Degree declared equivalent thereto. • OR • A Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering with one year experience from a Government approved work shop. Technical Qualifications: • Must have valid current Heavy Duty Licence for Driving. Experience Required: One year experience from a Government approved work shop (for Diploma holders). Physical Standards: Height: 165 cms; Chest: 81-86 cms (Minimum expansion 5 cm); Eye Sight: Distant vision 6/6 Snellen, Near vision 0.5 Snellen for both eyes without glasses. Equivalence / KS&SSR Rules: KS & SSR Part II Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable. Candidates claiming equivalent qualifications must produce relevant government orders at the time of verification.

Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
