Educational Qualifications: • Post Graduate Degree in Geography with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. • B.Ed degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. • In the absence of candidates with B.Ed degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed degree in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. • In the absence of the above, B.Ed degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. • In the absence of B.Ed degree holders, candidates with Post Graduate Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 50% marks and who have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) will be considered. Preference will be given to those who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil or qualified Junior Research Fellowship/National Eligibility Test. Teachers appointed under this provision will have to acquire B.Ed degree at their own expense within 5 years from the date of joining service. • Candidates who have acquired M.Ed in the concerned subject recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala through a regular course of study are exempted from B.Ed qualification. Technical Qualifications: • Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher conducted by the Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the Government of Kerala. Kerala PSC gives the age limit as a range of birth dates, for example “18–36: only candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007 (both dates included)”. Ages are counted on 1 January of the recruitment year, so an upper age of 36 in 2025 means you must be born on or after 2 January 1989. Relaxations move that earliest date back.
With relaxations, the upper age cannot go beyond 50.

Some notifications say relaxations do not apply, and the checker then uses the range as printed. By-transfer posts, special recruitments, NCA notifications and rules for widows are flagged with “Check the notification” instead of a verdict. The qualification guide compares levels only, not subjects. Always confirm in the official notification before you apply.
